Arlington Department of Human Services

PathForward is contracted by Arlington County to operate the Homeless Services Center, but our collaborative relationship runs very deep. If you need help, the Arlington Department of Human Services is your first line of defense. At DHS, you can find assistance with public assistance, emergency help, homeless services, health programs, mental health assistance and much more.

Arlington Thrive provides timely assistance to help our neighbors in need so they can develop the capacity to be stable, secure, and thrive in their jobs, health, and homes. PathForward is proud of its partnership with Arlington Thrive. Thanks to this impactful nonprofit, we are able to provide funds to our clients for dental hygiene care, prescriptions, hearing aids, and more. Many of PathForward’s clients work individually with Thrive.

Ballston Business Improvement District/Ballston GIVES

BallstonGives is a 501 (c) (3) organization and the charitable arm of the Ballston Business Improvement District. The charity was formed with the intention of benefiting the charitable organizations that already do great work within the Arlington community and beyond. The BID is a collaborative community partner of PathForward.

Rosslyn BID

The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) is a designated 17-block mixed-use, urban center in the heart of Rosslyn, Virginia. Funded by a special tax paid by property owners within the BID boundaries, the Rosslyn BID provides services to enhance, grow and maintain the neighborhood through a public/private partnership with Arlington County.

The Rosslyn BID is a collaborative community partner, and conducts annual clothing drives for PathForward clients.

OAR

OAR is a community-based nonprofit which envisions a safe and thriving community where those impacted by the legal system enjoy equal civil and human rights.

OAR is a collaborative community partner. PathForward has served as a resource for those in need of court-ordered community service.

AFAC

The mission of AFAC is to feed our neighbors in need by providing dignified access to nutritious supplemental groceries. Since 1988, the Arlington Food Assistance Center remains dedicated to its simple but critical mission of obtaining and distributing groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington, VA, who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs.

The AFAC and PathForward collaboration has a long history. In the early 90’s, PathForward shared offices with AFAC in South Arlington. Today, AFAC is a critical partner, serving as the food supplier for the Homeless Services Center and many of our clients in housing who have limited income. Their generous support provides PathFoward with nutritious food items for the full production kitchen at the HSC, where we provide three meals a day for our clients. This partnership alleviates the burden and expense of purchasing food for the Center, allowing PathForward to ensure financial support of other life-saving programs for our clients.

Arlington Free Clinic

Arlington Free Clinic provides free, high-quality health care to low-income, uninsured Arlington County adults through the generosity of donors and volunteers.

Thanks to the Free Clinic, PathForward clients are able to access dental care. Additionally, AFC also sees PathForward clients who do not qualify for Medicaid.

True Ground Housing

The mission of True Ground Housing is to develop, preserve, and own quality, affordable places to live; to promote stability and opportunity for our residents; and to advocate with the people and communities we serve.

AHC

Founded in 1975, AHC develops affordable housing and helps communities thrive in the Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Baltimore region. Their mission is to provide a wide array of educational programs and social services in community centers to help residents build more stable and successful lives.

AHC, Inc. is a long-standing partner of PathForward, providing resources for affordable housing for our clients.

Wesley Housing

The mission of Wesley Housing is to build up the lives of our most vulnerable community members by creating and operating healthy, inclusive, stable, affordable housing communities and providing supportive resident services.

Neighborhood Health

The mission of Neighborhood Health is to improve health and advance health equity in Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax by providing high quality primary care regardless of ability to pay.

Neighborhood Health is another medical service available to our clients and through this partnership, clients have access to behavioral health. Together with Neighborhood Health, we collaborate on a plan of care for individual clients as needed.

VHC Health

Through our partnership with VHC Health, we are better able to provide connections to specialty care for our clients and charity home health. VHC Health also assists in the placement of clients in nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities and has also provided beds for PathForward’s Medical Respite rooms.

Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Services

Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies is a values-based organization that educates the health workforce and advances practice, research, and scholarship, with a strong focus on reducing health disparities and promoting health equity around the globe. The multidisciplinary school houses energizing academic degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.

Nursing students from the Georgetown University School of Nursing come to PathForward to complete their public health rotation. These students provide health education, routine blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, and vaccinations.

Marymount University Malek School of Nursing Professions

Marymount’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares nurses to be knowledgeable, skilled, and caring health professionals qualified to practice in the contemporary health care environment.

Nursing students from the Malek School of Nursing Professions at Marymount University come to PathForward to complete their public health rotation. These students provide health education, routine blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, and vaccinations.

National Landing BID

The National Landing Business Improvement District (BID) is a public-private partnership established to promote and activate the area’s business, retail, restaurant and residential community.

PathForward partners with the National Landing BID to provide more intensive outreach and medical services in the National Landing community (Crystal City, Pentagon City, and Potomac Yard).

Doorways

Doorways creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence, and sexual assault, empowering our clients to achieve safe and stable lives. They seek to address the cycles of abuse, homelessness, and poverty in a proactive and nimble way, meeting their clients where they are and offering them support that enables long-term stability.

PathForward operates a HUD funded federal program to house families in permanent supportive housing, while Doorways provides specialized services and case management.

Nova Salud

The mission of Nova Salud is to improve and strengthen the health and well-being of our diverse community through culturally-competent and language-appropriate HIV/AIDS services. They provide HIV/STI testing and prevention education free of charge for all. NovaSalud works to help individuals overcome health disparities, stigma, and obstacles to adequate care. They make it possible to learn, deliver, and improve the health status of residents in the DC metropolitan area.

Through this valuable partnership, Nova Salud provides confidential HEP-C and HIV testing and connects clients to counseling and care services as needed. Nova Salud has also provided winter care bags for clients.

Bridges

Bridges to Independence leads individuals and families out of homelessness and into stable, independent futures.

Bridges to Independence and PathForward are partners through Arlington County’s Continuum of Care, a core network of interconnected programs and services (called a Continuum of Care, or CoC) to assist people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Columbia Pike Partnership

The mission of Columbia Pike Partnership is to foster a vibrant, safe, connected, and diverse Columbia Pike community. The Partnership exists to be the convening body representing the interests of all those who live, work and visit Columbia Pike.

Columbia Pike Partnership launched a new initiative to help feed the area’s homeless. It raised funds to provide two large meals from La Cocina VA for clients at PathForward’s Homeless Services Center (HSC) during April 2022.

New Hope Housing

New Hope Housing provides homeless families and individuals with shelter and the tools to build a better life.

PathForward works closely with New Hope Housing to meet the needs of the homeless population. PathForward also works with New Hope Housing to provide nursing services to clients at New Hope Housing’s Residential Program Center in South Arlington.

HomeAid Northern Virginia

HomeAid Northern Virginia brings together local non-profit service providers with the local homebuilder community to build/renovate homeless shelters, housing facilities, and community spaces for programs serving those experiencing homelessness.

HomeAid Northern Virginia recently completed a long-anticipated construction project at Sibert House, one of PathForward’s Permanent Supportive Housing apartment buildings that provide housing and life skills training for chronically homeless clients in Arlington.
