Shelter Services
The Shelter Program at the Homeless Services Center offers sleeping arrangements for over 80 people per night (55 shelter beds, five medical respite beds, and 25 additional beds from November – March during hypothermia season), provides three meals daily, showers, laundry facilities, and access to case managers and medical services. In a given year, PathForward provides shelter to over 500 people.
PathForward’s Shelter Program
PathForward operates the Arlington County Homeless Services Center. The Center is located one block from the Courthouse Metro stop at 2020-A N. 14th, St. Arlington, VA 22201. The PathForward team works with the Arlington Continuum of Care (CoC) to see that clients are referred to the appropriate services provider. All those in need of shelter should first contact the Department of Human Services Community Assistance Bureau (CAB) at (703) 228-1300 for help. After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, call (703) 228-1010 for help. The Homeless Services Center provides services to single adults, and we are a low-barrier shelter.
PathForward’s shelter services are now available year-round, both during the hypothermia season and throughout the year. This provides continuity of service, and helps our clients achieve a higher level of stability and wellness. It leads to more people in need getting into housing.
Case management, mental health, and substance abuse services and meals are available to shelter guests. Case managers link shelter guests to alternative year round emergency shelters as well as transitional and permanent housing programs. They assist guests with dental and medical referrals. They can also provide resources and support to those seeking stable employment. Mental health and substance abuse therapists are available through our partnership with Arlington County’s Treatment on Wheels program.
For questions about the PathForward Shelter Program, please call (703) 228-7802.
